Showbiz Cinemas Groundbreaking Ceremony is Monday

A groundbreaking ceremony for ShowBiz Cinemas Bowling, Movies and More! at U.S. Interstate 35 and Covell Road in Edmond will be at 4 p.m., Monday, Dec. 18.
Janet Yowell, executive director of the Edmond Economic Development Authority (EEDA), will provide opening remarks.
“We are so excited to mark the start of construction of this new entertainment center,” Yowell said. “We feel ShowBiz, along with the newly opened hotel and conference center, will be key in driving the development at this intersection.”
The facility will feature 14 boutique bowling lanes; lane side café with expansive food and drink options; 10 screens featuring oversized leather recliners; full bar with beer, wine and cocktails; cutting edge modern arcade with redemption center; multiple party rooms for every occasion; and an SDX Auditorium, which will include a 70-foot, wall-to-wall, ceiling-to-floor screen, 4K digital projection, and Dolby Atmos surround sound.
Other speakers at the groundbreaking will be Steve Commons, assistant city manager of the City of Edmond; Edmond Mayor Charles Lamb; Gary Bridwell, chair of the EEDA Board of Trustees; Chris Cline, director of development and VP of construction for ShowBiz; and a representative with Covell-35 Development.
